The Government of Bangladesh has launched a website to provide information on the coronavirus epidemic to the citizens of the country. There is a trap to continue all the information by creating fake portals like that website.
The official website is corona.gov.bd. A hacker group has created a portal that looks like an official website. Hackers have been tempted to apply for vaccinations on a priority basis through Coron-BD.com at this address. As soon as they fall into this trap, personal information including the National Identity Card (NID) number, date of birth will fall into the hands of hackers.
The government's Computer Accident Response Team (CIRT) has issued a warning of cyber attacks on several financial and government institutions in the country, including banks, after identifying the hackers' activities.
The CIRT said in a statement that there was no immediate indication that the attack was carried out for financial gain. But in the future it could be a deadly threat, which could lead to the theft of important information or large-scale financial losses, the government agency said.
